Our response to the Sewell report
In March 2021 the government published the findings from its Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities. This is our official statement in response to the commission's report.
The University's Anti-Racism Steering Group is acutely aware of the damaging impact that the publication of the Sewell report has had on many of our Black, Asian and minority ethnic students and staff.
We recognise the reality of people's lived experience, the realities of racism, and the devastating impact of COVID-19 on our minority ethnic communities.
We will continue with our work to tackle the root causes of individual, cultural, and institutional manifestations of racism, and we remain determined to drive real change to improve the representation, experience, and outcomes for people of colour across our institution.
