Decision pending

Under certain conditions, the exam board may not be able to make a final decision about your progression or degree outcome.

If the exam board is unable to make a final decision you will see the Decision pending programme outcome in eVision, together with a comment that gives more information about the situation.

Pending degree classification

The Board of Examiners has confirmed your degree under the temporary academic regulations for 2022/23, but is not yet able to confirm the classification for your award.

Your work has met the necessary standards for your intended degree. However, there are currently too many credit points excluded from your degree calculation for the exam board to confirm the classification. They have therefore awarded your degree with a pending classification.

You can attend graduation and as further marks become available, the exam board will confirm your degree classification.

If you hold a Student visa and meet other eligibility requirements, the University will report your degree completion to UKVI to support a Graduate visa application.

If you wish to submit an appeal, we recommend you do so after your classification is confirmed. In the meantime, you can submit a complaint.  If you have further queries about the complaints process, email uob-ia-complaints@bristol.ac.uk.

Preliminary Ordinary degree

The Board of Examiners is not yet able to determine your final degree award (and classification). Under the temporary academic regulations for 2022/23, the Board is able to award an Ordinary degree.

Your are being awarded a preliminary Ordinary degree because the exam board is satisfied that you have met the standards for a general degree but cannot yet award your intended named degree due to missing unit marks. A preliminary degree is an interim degree and is not classified.

You will be able to attend graduation and as further marks become available the exam board will confirm your final degree and classification. No distinction is made in the graduation celebration between intended and Ordinary degrees.

If you hold a Student visa and meet other eligibility requirements, the University will report your degree completion to UKVI to support a Graduate visa application.

If you wish to submit an appeal, we recommend you do so after your final degree and classification is confirmed. In the meantime, you can submit a complaint.  If you have further queries about the complaints process, email uob-ia-complaints@bristol.ac.uk.

Progression or award outcome not yet available

The Board of Examiners has not yet been able to confirm your outcome due to missing marks.

There are not sufficient unit marks available for the exam board to make progression or award decisions. In these circumstances, the decision is paused until further marks become available.
