Meningitis signs and symptoms
There are certain bacteria that teenagers and students are at more risk from – they are known as meningococcal (Men) A, B, C, W and Y. These bacteria can cause meningitis.
Signs and symptoms
Not all symptoms may show at once but someone with this illness will become very ill. The illness may progress over one or two days but it can develop rapidly, sometimes in a matter of hours.

Vaccination
The Men ACWY vaccination has been introduced for all 17-18 year olds and first year university students aged 19-25 to offer protection against this strain. Contact the Students' Health Service to find out if you're eligible for the Men ACWY vaccination.
