Support for alcohol and drug use
Book a drop-in appointment with Bristol-based BDP: a service for University students for support and information about drug or alcohol use. You can book this yourself without needing to speak to a GP first.
Drug checking by The Loop has been launched in Bristol on every last Saturday in the month. It's free and confidential. There are concerns about synthetic opiates (nitazines) finding their way into street drugs, especially Xanax and other benzodiazepines. These are very powerful opiates, much stronger than heroin, and have been responsible for a growing number of deaths in the UK. See the poster in the right hand column.
Expert drug information and advice on risk reduction: free and confidential, 24/7 online
Bristol Drugs Project: This is the website for Bristol-based charity BDP who in addition to the drop-in above, offer a number of other services, including family support and in-person support. They also have activities, blogs and local information.
Alcohol and drugs can sometimes get out of hand and excess use can sometimes be a way of trying to self-medicate for mental health issues such as anxiety, past trauma or low mood. We are here to help, so make an appointment with one of our specialist mental health nurses or a GP to chat about how we can support you.
