Hotspots from images

To create links from hotspots of your images can really enrich content delivery BUT if used well can develop into a good way of encouraging students to identify relevant sections of pictorial content.

Example of mapped image

The above example is given for utility rather than best practice. It highlights where you can find different advice for different hot spots within and image.

In this section we will be looking at a free tool that helps create code to map hyperlinks to other pages onto images. This is the online image mapper www.image-maps.com . There are 3 simple steps to creating an image map:

  1. Load the image
  2. Map out your links
  3. Get the code!

By the end of this section you will be

  • Familiar with the image map tool
  • Able to create a simple image map onto a JPEG

We will be looking at using it for Wimba Outputs.
