Ways to pay

There are different payment methods available to pay your fees.

Pay in full

Pay your fees in full via your financial statement.

This is the preferred method of payment for all students.

Pay in instalments

Set up an instalment plan to pay in smaller amounts throughout the year. You can either set up a Direct Debit or a recurring card payment. There are deadlines to set up a plan, so make sure you do this in time.

You must set up your instalment plan each academic year, even if you pay by the same method each year.

One-off and third-party payments

Make a payment other than the invoice amount. Your card details will not be stored.

If you are a student, choose ‘current or former student’ for payer relationship when prompted.

You can also make a third-party payment to pay on behalf of a student (for example if you are a student's parent).

Missed the set up deadline for accommodation fees

If you do not set up a Direct Debit or recurring card payment to pay your accommodation fees by the deadline, payment will not be taken automatically.

You can still pay in instalments, but you must do this manually in your financial statement by each instalment date.

Track your Flywire payment

Home and international students can track a payment that is in progress by logging in to the Flywire portal. If you have any questions about your payment status, contact Flywire directly.

Pay on behalf of a student

Flywire also allows family members and other people to make an offline bank transfer payment on your behalf. However, if you are a sponsored student there is a different arrangement for payments.

TransferMate

TransferMate is an international payment solution offering competitive exchange rates.

Pay by TransferMate

TransferMate has a local bank account, with no wire fee charges for you to pay in your local currency to a local bank account. Benefits are:

  • Preferential exchange rates
  • 24-hour online tracking of all payments
  • 24-hour customer service
  • Receipt of all payments issued to the sender and the University

You must quote your student number to make sure your payment is quickly and correctly processed to the right account.

Bank transfer

You (as a home or an international student) can only pay through our Flywire portal.

If you are sponsored

If an external organisation (such as the NHS, a government department, charity, company, or international organisation) will be paying your fees and need our bank details to do so, forward evidence of this request to the Student Fees Team: external-sponsors@bristol.ac.uk

Note: A sponsor is not a family member or friend who has agreed to pay your tuition fees.

If you receive a student loan

If you receive a student loan, this section does not apply to you.

Cash or cheque payments

We do not accept cash or cheque payments.
