Access to the building

A key fob provides access to this residence.

Bike storage

Bike storage is located on the ground floor. Access to the bike storage is via secure doors from Mitchel Ct Street or via the internal courtyard.

You will need to go to reception to request access to the bike store to be added to their room key.

Bicycles must not be brought into the house/flats due to fire regulations. Any bicycle found in the building, including in bedrooms, will be removed.

Catering options

This residence is self-catered.

Cleaning, recycling and rubbish

You are responsible for the day to day cleaning of your accommodation. The Student Cleaning Expectations and Guidance document has some helpful information on what cleaning products to use and how, so you know what to do to ensure your accommodation is cleaned well and that you are maintaining a healthy environment.

Subject to staff availability, cleaning is carried out according to the following schedule.

  • Halls and stairways: fortnightly
  • Kitchens: fortnightly
  • Bathrooms: fortnightly
  • Bedrooms and ensuite shower rooms: not serviced, it is your responsibility to keep these spaces clean.

Fire assembly point at St Thomas Street

The fire assembly point is located on the pavement opposite to main entrance by 'Core Strength Studios' on the corner of St Thomas Street and Three Queens Lane.

Fire alarm testing

Fire alarms are tested every Monday at 11 am. You do not need to evacuate during a fire alarm test. Days and times of fire alarm tests will be posted in your residence.

Fire alarm drills take place once every three months. If you hear a fire alarm at any other time or if the fire alarm sounds continuously for more than 10 seconds, you must evacuate the building immediately.

First aid

First aid boxes are located at the East Village Student Support Centre at Senate House and at reception at St Thomas Street.

You should report an accident or near miss to the East Village Student Support Centre so we can take steps to prevent it from happening again.

Insurance

Basic personal belongings are insured as part of your accommodation contract.

Check your policy and arrange additional cover if required.

Add additional devices

  1. On the new device, log into myaccount.ask4.com
  2. Select Enable this device.

If you do not have a web browser on your device, you can add your device's MAC address at myaccount.ask4.com to get connected instead.

24/7 support

Laundry facilities and costs

Washing facilities are located in the laundrette room which is on the ground floor, Block A. Machines are operated by Circuit.

Prices:

  • Washing: £3.40
  • Drying: £1.90

Paid using a top-up card or by the Circuit App.

You need to bring your own washing powder or tablets.

Drying clothes

You should not dry wet clothes in your room. This causes condensation and mould which can cause health problems, including some potentially serious lung infections.

Lost keys or locked out

If you are locked out, there are staff on call 24-hours a day. There is also overnight security. You will require photo identification to get a new key or be allowed in if you are locked out.

Lost property

Lost property will be kept in reception until the end of the tenancy. Any unclaimed items will be given to charity.

Parking

Car parking

There are no parking facilities at residences in the East Village.  

E-scooters

The University does not permit the use of private e-scooters and they must not be brought into residences or stored in bike storage areas.

Post

The postal address is: Your name, your flat/room number, 1 St Thomas Street, Bristol, BS1 6JS.

You can collect your post from Reception every day from 3 pm to 11 pm.

Parcels are taken in by reception to be collected by the resident. You will need to provide photo identification.

Rent and tenancy dates

The dates of your tenancy and total accommodation fee can be found in your tenancy agreement in the Accommodation Portal.

Request a repair

All repairs or maintenance requests must be logged with the residence. If you don’t tell us about an issue, it will be picked up at the end of your tenancy and you may be charged.

To request a repair or maintenance, email StThomasStreet@thisisfresh.com or report speak to a member of staff at reception. Provide as much detail about the repair or maintenance required as possible.

Updates on all maintenance will be sent via email to the resident/residents involved.

Damage

If you break or damage something in your residence you need to report it to us.

If you don't tell us, it will be picked up at the end of your tenancy and you may be charged for the repair.

Social spaces

St Thomas Street has a large social space area with a private dining room, two study rooms, three leisure games (table tennis, pool, foosball), a vending machine, and a TV area. These are located on the ground floor and are open 24/7.

The on-site gym is available for residents to use. Gym access cards are available at reception upon leaving your University of Bristol ID card in deposit.

There is also a cinema room available in block A on the ground floor. Residents need to book this space at reception and can get the projector remote control.
