Arrival information for The Courtrooms
Date and time
You must book an arrival slot before your first day:
- Friday 6 September, 9 am to 6 pm.
- Saturday 7 September, 9 am to 6 pm.
- Sunday 8 September, 9 am to 6 pm.
If you cannot arrive at these times, you can find out what to do when booking an arrival slot in the Accommodation Portal.

You can collect your key from the reception.
Please bring your check-in QR code. You get this after completing the accommodation induction.
There will be a maximum 10-15 minute drop off outside The Courtrooms. The nearest car park is NCP Nelson Street, BS1 3DB.

Access to the building
You can access the main building and bedrooms are accessed with a key fob.
Bike storage
The bike store is located in the courtyard and is available for students to use. You will need to go to reception to register your bike and they will programme your key fob to allow you access.

Bus pass
A bus pass for the Bristol Unibus U1 service (term time only) is included in your accommodation fee.

Catering options
This residence is self-catered, but food and drink packages are available to purchase.
Cleaning, recycling and rubbish
You are responsible for the day to day cleaning of your accommodation. The Student Cleaning Expectations and Guidance document has some helpful information on what cleaning products to use and how, so you know what to do to ensure your accommodation is cleaned well and that you are maintaining a healthy environment.
Flat kitchens will be cleaned once a week by staff.

Recycling bins
Recycling bins are located in the bin store in the courtyard.

Fire assembly point at The Courtrooms
The assembly point for The Courtrooms is under the archway at the back of the building.
Fire alarm testing
Fire alarms will be tested every Tuesday at 11 am. You do not need to evacuate during a fire alarm test.
If you hear a fire alarm at any other time or if the fire alarm sounds continuously for more than 10 seconds, you must evacuate the building immediately.
First aid
First aid boxes are located at the East Village Student Support Centre at Senate House and in the Management Office in New Bridewell.
You should report an accident or near miss to the East Village Student Support Centre so we can take steps to prevent it from happening again.

Insurance
Basic personal belongings are insured as part of your accommodation contract.
Check your policy and arrange additional cover if required.

Wi-Fi connection

- You will need to provide your flat and room number.
Wired connection
- Connect the ethernet cable from the device to the wall socket
- Go to signup.ask4.com
- Follow the signup process. You will need to provide your flat and room number.
Add additional devices
- On the new device, log into myaccount.ask4.com
- Select Enable this device.
If you do not have a web browser on your device, you can add your device's MAC address at myaccount.ask4.com to get connected instead.

Laundry facilities and costs
The Laundry Room is located on the ground floor and is managed by Circuit Laundry. There are five washing machines and five tumble dryers which operate using a card system.
Cards cost £2 and can be obtained from the dispenser in the Laundry Room. Please ensure that you use the correct change only when purchasing cards.
Cards can be topped up with credit using a debit card online. Instructions on how to do so are displayed in the Laundry Room and on the card.

You need to bring your own washing powder or tablets.
Drying clothes
You should not dry wet clothes in your room. This causes condensation and mould which can cause health problems, including some potentially serious lung infections.
Lost keys or locked out
If you are locked out, contact reception and a member of residence staff will be able to let you back into your room. You will need to show them your ID.

If reception is closed, contact the duty number on +44 (0)7522 934333. A member of staff is available 24 hours a day.
If you have lost your key, go to reception with your photo ID and you will be charged for a replacement key.
Lost property
All lost property will be stored in the lost property box in the parcel room. You can reclaim lost items from reception during opening hours. You will need to:
- provide an accurate description of the item
- describe when and where the item was lost
- show your ID
- sign for the item.
Items will only be stored for seven working days.
Parking
Car parking
There are no parking facilities at residences in the East Village.
E-scooters
The University does not permit the use of private e-scooters and they must not be brought into residences or stored in bike storage areas.
Post
The postal address is: Your name, your flat/room number, The Courtrooms, Rupert Street, Bristol, BS1 2AF.
All mail will be distributed to the letterbox for your flat in reception. Larger parcels, or mail that requires a signature, will be held by reception. You will be contacted to let you know that there is an item you need to collect. You can collect parcels from reception Monday to Friday between 8 am and 4 pm. Photo ID will be required.
If you do not collect your parcel within five working days, it will be returned to sender.
Rent and tenancy dates
The dates of your tenancy and total accommodation fee can be found in your tenancy agreement in the Accommodation Portal.

Request a repair
All repairs or maintenance requests must be logged with the residence. If you don’t tell us about an issue, it will be picked up at the end of your tenancy and you may be charged.

Updates on all maintenance will be sent via email to the resident/residents involved.
Damage
If you break or damage something in your residence you need to report it to us.
If you don't tell us, it will be picked up at the end of your tenancy and you may be charged for the repair.
Social spaces
We have two social spaces onsite; Common Room and Study Room. Both these spaces are located on the ground floor and are available to all residents of The Courtrooms.
