What are Activators?
Sport Activators are a team of current students who work with us to ensure that B:Active sessions are a welcoming, enjoyable and accessible experience for other students.
Every B:Active session will be attended by at least one Activator, whose primary role it is to be a friendly face to new and returning participants. Activators will usually:
- Support equipment set-up before the session
- Welcome and register session participants
- Answer any questions attendees have before, during or after the session
Activators are also a key way that we ensure B:Active sessions are a positive experience for participants, by listening to any feedback and escalating it to the B:Active staff team.

B:Active parasport
In March 2025, we hosted a takeover of our B:Active programme - replacing some of the usual sport and activity sessions with parasports.

What was the campaign about?
The aim of the takeover week was to offer students a discovery of adaptive sports, to celebrate inclusion and ultimately to raise awareness of the barriers that many disabled people face in participating in sport and physical activity.
Who was it aimed at?
The campaign was aimed primarily at our disabled students, but also provided a unique opportunity for non-disabled students at the University of Bristol to engage in parasports, and to try new activities that might not otherwise be available at university, or in the local community.
