Professional accreditation

A number of our courses qualify for accreditation by professional bodies. In particular:

Royal Statistical Society

The BSc in Mathematics and Statistics and MSci in Mathematics and Statistics programmes are accredited by the Royal Statistical Society.

Students on these courses are automatically entitled to Graduate Statistician status on application to the RSS, provided they achieve at least Second Class Honours.

Institute and Faculty of Actuaries

Students who receive scores of 60 percent or higher on the units MATH11300: Probability 1 and MATH11400: Statistics 1 (see level C/4 unit descriptions) qualify for exemption from the CT3 Probability and Mathematical Statistics exam of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

Institute of Mathematics and its Applications

Our MSci degrees in Mathematics, Mathematics with Statistics, and Mathematics with study in Europe all meet the educational requirements for the Chartered Mathematician designation awarded by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications.

The same is true of our BSc degrees in Mathematics, Mathematics with Statistics, and Mathematics with study in Europe, when they are followed by training and experience in employment to obtain equivalent competencies to those specified by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for taught masters degrees.
