  • are having problems accessing the NHS app

Possible test result outcomes

Normal with no action or follow up required

We will not contact you. View your results and any comments from the clinician in the NHS app.

Normal but action or follow up required

We will not contact you. View your results and any comments from the clinician in the NHS app.

If a clinician has already advised you to make a follow up appointment you should make one. You should still make one whatever your results are, even if they are normal.

If your results are normal but you are still experiencing symptoms, make another appointment.

Abnormal

A clinician will inform you of the result.

This may be by text message, a phone call, or we may ask you to book an appointment for further discussion. You can view the result through the NHS app after the clinician has contacted you.

Understand your test results
