A new publication from The Diamond Study Collaborative outlines the results of a survey of UK breast surgeons.
It suggests that a Randomised Controlled Trial of drains versus no drains after mastectomy and Axillary surgery is possible in the UK.
The authors, including CSR team members, believe, "There is a need for a large-scale UK-based RCT to determine if, when and in whom drains are necessary following mastectomy and axillary surgery. This work will inform the design and conduct of a future trial."
