New Lancet Commission publication on Value of Death

4 February 2022

Includes multidisciplinary perspectives from around the world

Members of the Centre of Surgical Research contributed to a new Lancet Commission report looking at "the unbalanced and contradictory picture of death and dying" in the 21st century. It shows that more 'death literacy' is needed in surgical care.

The Commissioners propose a new vision for death and dying, with greater community involvement alongside health and social care services, and increased bereavement support.

Plans to implement the findings are underway. You can watch the video here and read the report here.
