Review published on quality of life after rectal cancer surgery

27 January 2022

Results inconclusive due to poor data quality

One of our researchers, Samuel Lawday, has just published a systematic review in BJS Open looking at post-operative quality of life following surgery for rectal cancer.

The review looks at whether restorative surgery versus non-restorative surgery impacts quality of life. Although the published evidence is not of high quality, the data suggests restorative surgery does not offer an improved quality of life over a stoma.
