Centre for Surgical Research team member Graeme Ambler worked alongside the Vascular and Endovascular Research Network (VERN) to measure outcomes of vascular and endovascular interventions performed during the initial peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Their Annals of Surgery paper shows that mortality after vascular interventions during this period was unexpectedly high, although COVID-19 was not the likely cause. They call for further research on the impact of delayed surgery.
