Summer 2021 ANTHEM Study update

5 August 2021

The study looks at breast conserving surgery or mastectomy with or without implant breast reconstruction

The ANTHEM study is aiming to determine the feasibility of undertaking a large-scale study comparing the clinical and patient-reported outcomes of oncoplastic breast conservation surgery (therapeutic mammoplasty and chest wall perforator flaps) in women offered these techniques as an alternative to mastectomy with or without immediate breast reconstruction.

The study is up and running and open at 18 sites across the UK, with another 4 sites coming soon! So far, 68 patients have been recruited, or approx. 30% of the total recruitment target!

Sites interested in taking part should contact the ANTHEM Study Manager: Dr Charlotte Davies Charlotte.Davies@bristol.ac.uk or anthem-study@bristol.ac.uk (Study Chief Investigator: Miss Shelley Potter).
