Health and wellbeing

We want you to make the most of your time at Bristol, and there is a range of health, wellbeing and support services to support all aspects of your university life.

Centre for Study Abroad team

While you are studying at Bristol, the Centre for Study Abroad inbound team is your first point of contact and will act as your study abroad advisors. We can support you with any concerns you have, academic or personal.

A member of our team will be at the Global Lounge from 9:30 am to 4:30pm, from Monday to Friday, and can help you with any questions or concerns.

Students' Health Service

The University of Bristol has a full NHS (National Health Service) doctor's practice on campus, called the Students' Health Service. Depending on where you will be living while in Bristol, you can either register with the Students' Health Service upon your arrival or you can register with a local doctor service.

All students can have an initial appointment with the Students' Health Service, but only students who have a student visa or are a UK/Irish passport holder can have free medical care under the NHS. Students on a standard visitor visa are not covered by the NHS and must have private medical cover.

Mental health and wellbeing

There is a range of services available to support your mental health and wellbeing, including resources to help you manage your own wellbeing. Check our Student Support pages for further information about the range of services which you can access while you're studying in Bristol.

If you are currently accessing regular support, such a counselling services, at your home university, we strongly recommend researching support within Bristol before you arrive. Our Student Counselling Service primarily offers single appointments to talk through a specific issue which may be troubling you.
