How to apply

Start a new application

Complete an existing application

There are three routes of application into the Master's by Research in Global Environmental Challenges. We always recommend reaching out to the supervisors before completing an application – contact details can be found on the project page through our Find a project directory.

1. Apply for a project

These research questions have been designed by the academic supervisors.

2. Apply for a challenge area

If the project you are interested in is a challenge area, it will be stated under the ‘How to apply’ heading on the project page. This option requires a research statement where you will shape the research area into a question that interests you.

3. Propose your own research project

If you cannot find a project that aligns with your research passion or expertise, you can propose your own project. This requires you to approach relevant academic supervisors and complete a research statement. If you have an idea but are unsure where to start with approaching supervisors, please email cabot-masters@bristol.ac.uk.

Please read our postgraduate policy documents, which outline the regulations we expect you to adhere to as a student.

Coming off the back of my undergraduate degree, I wanted to conduct research for the good of the planet and build an interdisciplinary skillset through programming and data analysis. This project with the Cabot Institute ticked all my boxes, as well as providing useful training for a future in academic research.
