Applying for a scholarship

In memory of Dr Dick Smith we are pleased to be able to offer funding for a select number of student research projects each year. These projects must be related to anatomical research including education in anatomy. Projects related to the anatomy of exotic species are encouraged and one project per year will be restricted to the study of chelonia. Funding of up to £1,000 per month for a period of 1 to 3 months will be available per project.

If you are interested in applying for such a project please first check the eligibility criteria and conditions. Completed application forms should be submitted to the Senior School Assistant (anat-ssadmin@bristol.ac.uk) by 31st March each year. The successful applicant will be notified within 31 days.

Eligibility criteria and conditions:

To be eligible for a project you must be a University of Bristol undergraduate student, normally studying Veterinary Science or Applied Anatomy although students enrolled on other programmes would be considered. You must have an identified supervisor who is a University of Bristol member of staff (co-supervised projects may also have an external supervisor).

Students will be required to report their research findings in the form of a poster or oral communication to a national conference. Students will also be required to present their findings during a short talk to staff within the School of Anatomy.

Fees are claimed on an hourly basis up to £1,000 total per student per month.
