Anti-racism at Bristol

Find out about how the whole university is working together to tackle racism on all levels. How we are working to improve race equality, the representation and experience of our Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff across the University.

Union Black: anti-racism course

'Union Black: Britain's black cultures and steps to anti-racism' is a 6-hour online learning course, open to all staff and students.

Centre for Black Humanities

This centre seeks to foster the broad range of research currently being done in the Faculty of Arts around the artistic and intellectual work of people of African descent.

GEOG BAME Society is a support network for staff members who are from ethnic and minority backgrounds within the school. We meet a few times a term over coffee or lunch. The group provides a safe and supportive environment for staff members to discuss their experiences and challenges related to discrimination, racism and lack of diversity. It helps raise awareness about the experiences and challenges faced by individual members and push for policies and practices that promote equality and inclusion within the school. We work closely with the EDI committee and the Head of school. Please email Winnie Wang directly if you would like to join this group.

Stand Against Racism & Inequality: SARI

SARI provides free and confidential support for anyone who is a victim of hate crime across Avon and Somerset. Whether that’s based on race, faith, disability, sexual orientation, transgender identity, age, or sex. We also work to build greater understanding and respect for diversity and difference within our community.
