The Research Development Team (based within RED) will be running a workshop “Introduction to Research Grant Applications” which will be offered to colleagues within the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences & Law. 

Please note this session is for University of Bristol staff only.

Please note that this workshop will take place over two sessions on Zoom and you MUST be available for both parts of the workshop:

  • Part 1: 14:00 – 15:30 on Wednesday 5th May 2021
  • Part 2: 14:00 – 15:30 on Thursday 6th May 2021

This workshop will give you an introductory overview and will explore the following topics:

  • the funding environment
  • types of grants available for your discipline
  • what you need to take into account when choosing a funder
  • the basic anatomy of a grant application
  • the research funding application and assessment process
  • what support is available to you within the University

This workshop is aimed at those new to applying for research funding and who plan to submit a proposal during the next year or so. Please be aware that there will be some offline pre-sessional materials made available at least one week before Part 1. Pre-session work will take absolutely no more than 1 hour of your time.
