Health and Wellbeing

Theme leads: Dr Angela Attwood and Professor Claire Haworth

The Health and Wellbeing theme brings together members of the School to understand the biological, psychological and social influences underpinning physical and mental health, and to co-produce and evaluate engaging and effective behaviour change interventions. We explore the impact of lifestyle behaviours on health and wellbeing, including the impact of gambling, food intake, alcohol and tobacco. We investigate the causes and consequences of wellbeing and mental illness, and this understanding shapes our interventions for promoting health, wellbeing and sustainable food choices. 2. Identify needs and opportunities for using psychological methods to improve physical health, mental health and dietary behaviour.
  3. Expand and innovate our behavioural intervention development and evaluation.
