Annales Henri Poincare Prize

3 April 2025

Former Bristol postdoc Dr Jory Griffin has been awarded the Annales Henri Poincaré Prize for the journal’s most remarkable paper published in 2023.

Dr Griffin's paper "Derivation of the Linear Boltzmann Equation from the Damped Quantum Lorentz Gas with a General Scatterer Configuration" is published online (Open Access). He was an undergraduate student in Bristol (winner of the 2013 Peregrine Prize) and gained his PhD here. This paper was written during his most recent appointment as a postdoc in Bristol, after he had returned from working in the United States.

The award includes prize money sponsored by Birkhäuser and the opportunity to present the work in a special session of the next International Congress of Mathematical Physics ICMP27, August 2-7 2027, in Da Nang, Viet Nam. See Springer Nature Link for more details.

Congratulations to Jory!
