Informal, personalised library training sessions. 

Aimed at all students, book a session to get practical advice to help you make the most of your library service.  

What will the sessions cover? 

You tell us! Show me how sessions can cover: 

  • How to locate books and other materials on the online catalogue 

  • How to use the self-service kiosks to borrow and return books 

  • How to book library desks and study spaces 

  • How to get expert support from your Subject Librarian, the Study Skills team, and the Library Support team 

You can request other topics when you book your session we’ll either cover those during the session, or signpost you other colleagues who can provide expert help. 

Who can take part in a Show me how session? 

Any University of Bristol student can book a session. You can book a 1:1 session just for yourself, or a group session for up to four.

Why should I book a session? 

To improve your understanding of the services and facilities offered by Library Services. 

The Library offers much more than study seats and printers! As a confident Library user, you can save money on textbooks, search through thousands of scholarly articles from our print and electronic collections, and secure a study seat when you most need it via our online booking system 

You can also make the most of our team of over 150 Library staff, including specialist teams who will support you with study skills, accessibility needs, and much more. 

Who will deliver the sessions? 

Our team of friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic library customer service staff, who are very experienced in the day-to-day running of the library. 

Where and when will the sessions take place? 

You can decide! We plan to offer sessions at every library on the Clifton campus 

Sessions will last about 30-45 minutes, and will initially be offered at pre-set times during normal working hours (Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm)
