Arts & Social Sciences Library, temporary closure, Summer 2025

This summer the Arts and Social Sciences Library (ASSL) will be closed whilst we create some exciting new spaces on the ground floor. Please check this page regularly for updates, including access and service information, whether you are in Bristol over the summer or planning your return in September.

The ASSL will be closed from 8pm on Thursday 12 June for approximately 12 weeks. To support your studies and research across the summer, the Wills Memorial Library is open for extended hours 8am to 8pm Monday to Sunday from 16 June. Prebooked visits to our Special Collections will not be affected. Please contact the team at special-collections@bristol.ac.uk if you have any questions.

If you need a book from the Arts and Social Sciences Library print collection, please make a reservation and select an alternative library as your collection point.

If you need to return an item, you can do this at any of our other libraries. For locations see: www.bristol.ac.uk/library/locations-opening/

The Library Support Team will not be running drop-ins over the Summer, but you can contact them by email to make an appointment or make an enquiry at library-support@bristol.ac.uk

The Day Reader Scheme for visitors and SCONUL Access will be accommodated at the Education Library from Monday 16 June, 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. If you need an item from our print collection, please use our book retrieval service: www.bristol.ac.uk/library/use/visitor-access/day-reader/

The IT Counter and Student Laptop and Mobile Clinic will be temporarily moving location to just inside the rear entrance of the Fry Building (School of Mathematics). All existing services and opening hours will remain the same, but the location will be different. Please be aware that the IT Counter will not be available on Friday 13 June, reopening it its new location on Monday 16 June.

If you have any questions, please contact us at library-enquiries@bristol.ac.uk
