Using personal and unmanaged devices
As part of the work to retain Cyber Essentials certification, the University needs to manage how data and services are accessed.
To do this, we ask that the personal devices of staff and Postgraduate Research students (Windows, Macs, iPhones, iPads and Android devices) register for compliance so we can check that they are using the latest operating system with up-to-date security patches.

Personal Windows device

Personal Apple Mac computer
Please see the guidance on how to register a personal Apple Mac computer.
University provided Apple Mac computer
Please follow the guidance below to make your device compliant.
- If your University macOS computer has the Software Center app installed rather than Self Service, please:
- Upgrade your device to the current management platform. Please read the important notes before starting the process.
- Next, set up your device as if it were a new device.
- Finally, please register your device for compliance.
- If your University macOS computer has the Self Service app, please register your device for compliance.
