Data Centre Networking (DCN) is one of the essential technologies for cloud and edge computing.

Data Centre Networking (DCN) is one of the essential technologies for cloud and edge computing.  The HPN Group has pioneering research innovations in DCN architecture including SDN-based data centre virtualisation,  programmable network switch and interface card, and  inter-DCN communications. More recently HPN has pioneered the concept of the quantum data centre and quantum network interconnect for distributed and scalable quantum computing informing the quantum data centre. The research focus of the group includes:

  • Machine learning based traffic engineering in DCN
  • Novel DCN architecture that provides enhanced performance for large-scale machine learning applications
  • Advanced network control and resource management in DCN
  • Quantum Data centre
  • Quantum computing assisted classical data centre
  • Data centre at the edge
