Distance and remote learners' virtual tea breaks

This term year we're trialling regular virtual meet-ups for those of you who aren't based on, or have difficulty getting to campus to meet and chat with fellow PGRs online.

These are entirely voluntary weekly drop-in sessions, giving you the opportunity to make yourself a drink, step away from your studies for 30 minutes and have a chat with others from the PGR community.

These won't be attended by staff, so you can talk candidly about any issues you might be experiencing.

In order to try and be as inclusive as possible, we've set the times and dates to change each week, hoping that some people will find a weekend evening convenient, and others a weekday lunchtime.

You can attend weekly, fortnightly, or just drop in and out as you choose, it's up to you.

Follow the instructions below to join the group and add the sessions to your calendar

Request to join the group

Once you have joined the MS Teams group (you will need to have completed registration if you are a new student) you will be able to view the group's calender and join the sessions.

Add to your calendar

Whilst in Outlook calendar, select 'add calendar'
Choose 'add from directory', select your calendar from the drop down, then type 'grp-PGR-Distance-Learners' into the box and select.
You should now be able to view the group calendar for grp-PGR-Distance-Learners. The sessions run once a week from 26 August until 18 December. Select 'add to my calendar' for any of the sessions you would like to attend.

Request to join the group

Once you have joined the MS Teams group (you will need to have completed registration if you are a new student) you will be able to view the group's calender, join the sessions & chat on the Teams channel.

Teams Channel

We now have a Teams Channel for chatting either in addition to the weekly meetings, or instead of if you find getting to the meetings tricky. You will be added to it automatically when you join.
