The School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine came together on 29 March 2023 for their Annual Research Away Day, held at Engineers House, Clifton.

The annual, all-day event was attended by academic staff, postdocs and postgraduates from across the School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, along with guests including the Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences – Professor Jeremy Tavare.

The event offered members the opportunity to showcase ongoing research collaboration at the School, with talks from Professor Karim Malik, Dr Stephanie Diezmann, Dr Luca Shytaj, Professor Christoph Wuelfing, Professor Anne Ridley, Professor Rafael Carazo Salas, Dr Borko Amulic and Professor Ruth Massey.  In addition we had a fantastic talk from Amber Roguski about 'Reflexive research'.

The School’s breadth and quality of research was also exhibited among the entrants of our annual Postgraduate and Postdoctoral poster competitions, where candidates displayed their posters, allowing students, staff and judges the opportunity roam freely between each entry. In fact some of the scoring was so close we decided to present two extra prizes!!

The prizes were presented to the winners at the end of the day by the Research Director, Professor Eugenia Piddini, and the Head of School, Professor Anne Ridley.

Throughout the day the postgraduate and postdoc reps provided fun and games for everyone with the skittles game, giant jenga and connect four, and for the evening entertainiment we had a revealing round of stories whilst playing 'would I lie to you'.
