We were delighted to hear from a variety of projects who have previously received BDFI seedcorn funding, to share their methodologies, outcomes and future plans.
They talked through the process of developing their research, who was involved, the successes and challenges, and where they plan to go next with their findings, to an audience of fellow academics and BDFI affiliates.
The speakers and projects that were featured include:
- Angeliki Katsenou - Profiling the energy consumption of video streaming over 5G
- Martin Garrad - Wearable robots for enhancing embodied communication
- Lisa May Thomas and Eirini Lampiri - Cognition - making mixed reality experiences accessible
- Ed King - Striving for a fairer digital playing field in Brazil
- Andres Dominguez Hernandez and Ola Michalec - Against digital fatalism - resisting technology hype through hopeful artful interventions with immersive futures
Prof Daniel Neyland, BDFI co-director, said: "Our seedcorn funding is a really important part of our commitment to promoting research opportunities from the ground up. It was very inspiring to hear how these projects have progressed since receiving the funding. It was also a good opportunity to learn from each other about what went well and what could be improved. We look forward to supporting the projects in their next phases as they develop."
