Bristol Digital Futures Institute is committed to changing the way we think about ‘digital futures’ and how we create technologies for inclusive, sustainable and prosperous societies.

With £100m investment through the Research England Research Partnership Investment fund, BDFI will open bespoke cutting-edge research, education and co-creation facilities in early 2022 as part of the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus.

The new academic roles are the first of 20 appointments over the next three years, to be made across Engineering and Social Sciences. The successful applicants will play a critical role in shaping the intellectual agenda of the Institute at an exciting time in its development.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of Bristol Digital Futures Institute partners.

Current collaborations include our work with Knowle West Media Centre, to better understand how Covid-19 has exacerbated digital exclusion in their local community and how we can help close the digital divide.

We are also working closely with LV=GI, a major personal lines insurance provider, to democratise machine learning and explore methods for wider engagement when creating and monitoring machine learning decision-making.
