Alumni support Biochemistry students

24 March 2021

Reflecting on the one-year anniversary of the pandemic, the School of Biochemistry celebrates the remarkable ways alumni have provided careers support and virtual work experience to students during lockdown.

In response to the new and sudden lockdown restrictions in March last year, the School of Biochemistry invited alumni to support students with extra career advice, opportunities for work shadowing and virtual work experience. The response has been fantastic, and outcomes have included ‘A Day in the Life’ videos made by alumni to demonstrate different career options and a series of inspiring online events.

By sharing their knowledge and expertise, alumni have given current students invaluable insights into diverse Biochemistry career options, and amazing networking skills and contacts. Speaking to students after these events truly confirmed how important our alumni volunteers are:

“Since the Q&A, I have been reading about clinical embryology and I am now keen on specialising in that area.”

“Just emailing to say thank you for organising the zoom today. The insight I have gained from it is invaluable to me!”

Thank you to our fantastic alumni volunteers.
