• Professor Stephen Halford FRS (1945 - 2022)
  Prof. Steve Halford FRS (affectionately “Halfs” to his friends) was a legendary Bristol biochemist for over 40 years, progressing from undergraduate to emeritus professor.
• Dr Michael Hayes (1939 – 2022)
  Dr Michael Hayes died on the 22 September 2022. He was appointed Lecturer in Biochemistry (Oral Biology) within the Department of Biochemistry in 1970, promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1983 and retired in 1999.
• Dr Paul Muir Wood (1947-2022)
  Dr Paul Wood, former PI in the Department of Biochemistry, died on the 15th May 2022. He is remembered here by David Yates, former Senior Lecturer in Biochemistry.
• Professor David Anstee (1946-2021)
  Professor David "Dave" Anstee, an honorary staff member in Biochemistry for many years, died on Monday 18 October 2021.
• Professor Herbert "Freddie" Gutfreund (1912-2021)
