Teaching using HPC application process 2023/24

Teaching using the ACRC HPC clusters can only take place by prior arrangement with the ACRC. This includes the use of the ACRC HPC clusters for student projects.

If you wish to use the ACRC HPC clusters (BlueCrystal 4 or BluePebble) for teaching you will need to complete steps 1) and 2) at least 6 weeks before your teaching is due to begin:

Please email hpc-help@bristol.ac.uk if you have any queries about this process.

1) Apply for an HPC project for your course:

You will need to apply for an HPC project describing your teaching course. Please include the dates/academic year the course will run in the Project title. Please select the 'unfunded' and 'teaching' drop-down boxes.

To avoid duplication please do co-ordinate with your teaching colleagues and only request one project for each distinct course/HPC teaching request.

2) Fill in the HPC teaching request form to tell us the key information about your course and HPC teaching plans at least 6 weeks before your course is due to begin.

3) Student registration - 10 days before HPC access is needed

All your students will need to apply for an HPC account using the course HPC project code in order for them to be given an account on the systems.

They should request accounts at least 10 days before access is required.

You may also wish to direct your students to the ACRC's Intro to CLI and Intro to HPC training materials and the HPC documentation.

Note. You will need to be on the campus network or VPN to be able to access these application forms.
