What we did
Once again we had a successful and enjoyable trip to the Isle of Arran, where we stayed in a log cabin and did conservation work for the NTS.
Our tasks this year included the ever-popular rhoddie bashing in Merkland Wood (with bonfires that took hours to get going properly); ditch clearing along paths on the Brodick Castle estate and the Goatfell trail from High Corrie; and odd jobs around the estate.
Wednesday was our day-off and saw an unusually diverse range of activities undertaken by the group. Gemma H and Simon did two laps of the island by bus, Stuart ran from the west coast back to Brodick, Tim did a solo walk around the Glen Rosa horseshoe (accompanied by Vicky and Lisa as far as Goatfell) and Sarah and Vanessa had a slightly hysterical day stuck in places waiting for the next bus. I can't remember what everyone else did.
Quotes
Most of the quotes seemed to have been forgotten due to nobody bothering to write them down. But happily there are a few – almost exclusively attributable to Rob, in Tony's absence - which can be found on the quotes board.
