Autum 2010 Events Programme

The autumn term is here! On this page you'll find information about upcoming events and socials so make sure regularly.

The programme is regularly updated, as and when new information becomes available.

If you want to go on any of the Sunday events be sure to get in touch with President Becky the week before and tell her where you would like to be picked-up.

Thursday 7th and Friday 8th October

Fresher's Fair

Come and find our stall at FRESH and find out what we do. You'll be able to sign up and you may even be rewarded with sweets, you never know. FRESH runs from 10am - 6pm on Thursday and 10am - 4pm on Friday giving you plenty of time to track us down! We're on the fourth floor of the Union.

Sunday 10th October

Boiling Wells event

Our first event will be at the Boiling Wells site in St Werburghs. There are only a limited number of places which will be allocated on a first come first served basis. As soon as I have access to the mailing list I will provide further details including how to get there and what to bring so keep checking your emails!

Sunday 17th October

Silly Hat Social

Our first social will be our traditional silly hat social at the Roo bar (near the big Sainsburys on White Ladies road) from 7.30pm. Come along and meet other members, we'll be wearing silly hats to help you find us! Feel free to bring your most bizarre headwear but don't worry, looking stupid is a bonus not a requirement.

Sunday 24th October

Lawrence Weston

Our first away trip will be to Lawrence Weston, where we will be undertaking reed clearance, as this will require the mini-bus there will be a £2 charge for it, and don't forget to let me know where you want to be picked up when you sign up!.

Sunday 31st October

Leigh Woods

Our next event is over the Suspension Bridge at Leigh Woods. No transport necessary (unless, of course, you're one of those unfortunate people who live a million years away). Leigh Woods is always worth exploring so please join us for what will probably be mostly scrub clearance. Directions will be provided closer to the time, keep checking your emails!

Sunday 8th November

Weston Big Wood

This will be coppicing some smaller trees such as field maple, hazel and dog rose. We will be using the minbus for this trip, so it will be £2 each, and so don't forget to let me know where you want to be picked up when you sign up!.

Saturday 20th - Sunday 21th November

Alfrick weekend

A weekend of coppicing, path widening and bramble clearance with hot lunch provided by the lovely Trevor and Annette...sounds good, yes? This is always a really popular event (did I mention the hot lunches?) so don't miss out! Accomodation on the Saturday is a village hall and there will be a small charge to cover costs. If you have any questions please ask a member of the committee or have a look through the scrapbook at what happened in previous years.

Sunday 28th November

Lower Woods

We'll be getting the minibus to this event so will be £2 each and don't forget to let me know where you want to be picked up when you sign up!
