Parking at the University

Demand for car parking at the University is extremely high and a review of parking policy is taking place.  Permits may be issued during this time but the University cannot guarantee that a space will be available.  More information, along with relevant FAQs can be found in the PARKING REVIEW section.

This section aims to answer any questions you may have relating to car parking; the car parking map, advice on applying for a parking permit, charges, parking rules (including civil car parking charges), ordering coupons, booking visitor parking, temporary contractor parking, student parking and much more.

If you have a query please check the frequently asked questions, or email car-parking@bristol.ac.uk.

Why does the University have a car parking scheme?

  • To cope with the demand for car parking exceeding supply.
  • To allocate the spaces that we have on the basis of need (and not seniority or status of individuals, or on a free for all basis that benefits early arrivals).
  • To ensure that the cost of parking is fair.
  • To encourage and assist staff in alternative means of transport to work other than their own private car.

Parking enforcement is carried out all year round from 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday including out of term, the only time parking is not enforced is on University Closure days.
