Recruitment and Selection

To ensure fairness of opportunity, it is important to consider the potential effects of unconscious bias on the recruitment process. We ask all our staff to complete the Effective Recruitment and Selection course before they begin the hiring process.

Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct is intended to define positive behaviours that the School wishes to promote across all staff working within Physics. It is also designed to empower members to set boundaries for themselves. The document acts as an accompanying resource to the University-wide code on acceptable behaviour and the School of Physics staff handbook.

How We Support Our Academic Staff

The School of Physics is dedicated to supporting our team of academic staff in their career development. We want to assist our researchers by pointing them in the direction of the resources available in terms of funding, support and training.

Join Our Team

We believe in providing a welcoming, supportive and inclusive working environment in which all of our staff can thrive. Visit the Join Our Team page for a comprehensive overview of resources related to academic and professional services roles in the school, as well as information on how you can apply to join us.

Mental Health and Wellbeing

The health and happiness of our staff is of paramount importance to us. The University has a scope of resources available to help support your mental health and wellbeing should you need them.

Work Life Balance

Achieving a healthy work-life balance is one our key commitments. The University has developed a set of policies to aid flexibility, regardless of gender, age, pay grade, personal circumstances, or the number of hours you work.
