SCONUL Access at the University of Bristol Library

We are members of the SCONUL Access scheme, welcoming students and staff from other universities to our library.

Arts & Social Sciences Library closure

The Arts & Social Sciences Library is currently closed whilst we create some new spaces on the ground floor. From Monday 15 September the Day Reader Scheme is suspended and we will only be processing applications for SCONUL band A, B and C while we prioritise study space for our own staff and students. Please contact lib-access@bristol.ac.uk if you have urgent need for access to our collections.

SCONUL Access is a joint agreement between most UK universities. It allows students and staff to use other academic libraries when they are travelling or away from their usual campus.

We allow all SCONUL Access users to use the Arts and Social Sciences Library. Depending on your status, you may also to be able to access other libraries and borrow up to 5 books simultaneously from our collections.

To apply to the University of Bristol, you will need:

  • Authorisation email from SCONUL (received after applying for SCONUL Access)
  • Passport-style photo
  • University card
