Bristol Vet School/CIEL Poultry centre

Working together with CIEL to solve the challenges of the poultry industry.

We have expertise in poultry behaviour, welfare and disease through epidemiological and experimental studies on-farm, to controlled experiments in our research facilities.

Facilities

Poultry Research Farm: Eight individually controlled and monitored experimental rooms, housing up to 150 birds in each, plus two isolated hatching facilities. Available for research into both laying hen and broiler health, welfare and behaviour. This facility bridges the gap between commercial systems and small experimental units, combining industry standard housing with state-of-the-art environmental monitoring and poultry monitoring, at flock and individual level.

Research Animal Building: Home Office compliant suites of four rooms, for 20 adult hens per room, is also available.
