Lecturer in Veterinary Parasitology

Research within the Veterinary Parasitology group at Bristol Vet School focuses on the evaluation of complex host-parasite interactions, and the development of sustainable helminth control in the face of anthelmintic resistance.  Specific areas of research include, the use of multi-omics technology to unravel the complex interplay between gastrointestinal parasites, the host microbiome and host immune responses to infection. We are using these data to inform the development of novel control strategies, aimed at improving resistance and resilience to parasite infection in a range of veterinary species. We focus particularly on gastrointestinal helminths, including, but not limited to, Cyathostominae, Fasciola hepatica, and Anoplocephala perfoliata.

In addition to work in the UK, another branch of our research includes research projects in Africa, with the aim of devising appropriate parasite control strategies and accompanying decision support for farmers and animal health professionals, contributing to the Global Food Security and One Health agendas.

We welcome informal approaches from potential collaborators and prospective postgraduate students.
