Meet Zoe Schlossmacher, BVSc Veterinary Science student, who shared her experience on the course with us.

Why did you choose to study at Bristol?

I chose to study at Bristol as it's one of the best schools in the world for veterinary medicine and animal welfare. As an international student, attending a veterinary school that's accredited by major organisations such as the AVMA, EAEVE, and AVBC on top of the RCVS was really important to me. Furthermore, the city of Bristol is lovely and I really liked how vet students get to split their time between the city Clifton campus and the rural Langford campus, rather than being based fully rural or fully city. It feels like I get the best of both worlds, and it's a lovely experience.

What have you enjoyed most about your time here?

I have enjoyed the diverse city, from being able to spend time by the harbourside to going into hills and forests. The fact that it's a city surrounded by nature is so enjoyable and provides a lovely atmosphere to study in. The friendships I have made have also made my four years at university some of the best time of my life.

What are your plans after you graduate? How do you feel the course has helped you achieve your goals?

My plans after graduating is to enter a first opinion small animal GP practice here in the UK. The course has helped me achieve these goals by providing me ample practical experience, not only with small animals but across every animal species, which helped me narrow down which species I'd like to focus on upon graduating. The course also has lots of professional skills classes and communication skills courses which help to develop your client-facing skills as a clinician.
