Food

We collect food waste from all staff kitchens and halls of residence. All kitchens have a food waste caddy, but if yours is missing, please contact us and we’ll deliver one.

You can recycle almost all food waste in your kitchen caddy:

• cooked and uncooked food,
• teabags,
• coffee grounds,
• eggshells,
• meat and fish bones.

Please don’t fill them with:

• cooking oil,
• large quantities of solid fat,
• uncooked bones.

Cans, tins and foil

Please rinse all food tins and ensure that drinks cans are empty, then place them in the labelled bin you can find in your staff kitchen or other communal areas, such as cafes. If your kitchen doesn’t have a bin then please contact us and we’ll deliver one.

Plastics

We can recycle almost every type of plastic, including cups, clingfilm, tubs, bottles, disposable cutlery, microwave meal trays, and carrier bags. Please see the plastics page for more details.

Glassware

We can recycle almost every type of glass, including bottles, jars, and drinking glasses. We can't recycle broken glass - please wrap it and dispose of it carefully as landfill waste. Please see the glass page for more details.
