On 4 June 2016, Bristol's Bordeaux Quay was filled with 'change makers' - students from the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England who came together to celebrate and receive Green Capital Change Maker awards.

As part of Bristol's year as European Green Capital, the city's universities pledged to work together to create 100,000 hours of student engagement with social, economic and environmental sustainability.

The Green Capital Change Maker awards acknowledged the efforts of any student who has spent seven hours or more involved in such activities. Whether through volunteering, work placements, research projects or paid employment, these students supported sustainability on a local, national or international level all qualify.

Over 200 students from the University of Bristol have been recognised as Change Makers.
