Curriculum Support Workshops
Our Investigate series offers skills-focused workshops that support the Key Stage 3 Science curriculum.
Our Investigate workshops aim to promote the development of core scientific skills, whilst covering content from the Key Stage 3 Science curriculum. The sessions are designed to compliment each other if offered as a series, or as stand-alone, 50-minute lessons.
We are hoping to offer these sessions to schools more widely in future.
Investigate Sessions
During this interactive lesson, learners get the oportunity to design and carry-out experiments where they will hypothesise, collect results, and evaluate their methodology.
Session focus: Static electricity
Scientific skill: Planning experiments
Centred around four experiments, this session offers an overview of sound waves- what they are, how they work and where we can see their effects.
Session focus: Sound waves
Scientific skill: Presenting reasoned explanations
Students will be given the opportunity to interrogate different sources of information in order to help inform their own argument.
Session focus: Health and diet
Scientific skill: Objectivity
In this session, students will apply principles of force and motion to solve a problem in our fictional scenario. Students will work in groups to calculate results to help them to determine which of our fictional characters will win the Rapid Road Race.
Session focus: Forces and motion
Scientific skill: Calculating results
