UoB Photomarathon 2022

16 July 2022, 9.30 AM - 16 July 2022, 3.00 PM

Royal Fort Gardens, Bristol, BS8 1UH

We're back, and in person!!

A Photomarathon is a photography competition with a bit of a challenge: you have to take 10 photos of 10 themes in the correct order over a 5 hour period. The dilemma is if you reach theme 6 and you see something that would capture theme 2, do you delete the themes that you’ve already taken and start again from theme 2, or ignore it and carry on…
Only digital images are allowed, either using a digital camera or a camera phone. You just need to be able to get the photos to me at the end of the day, either by removing your memory card, or transferring them via cable!!

Saturday 16th July, starting 10am (registration from 9.30am), finishing around 3.00pm.

This event is open to all staff, students and the general public.

This year's event will be held in person at Royal Fort Gardens, Bristol, BS8 1UH. If you would like to take part from elsewhere in the world, please email me (link below) and I can arrange to email the themes on the day.

This year it's a free event!!

It is not envisaged there will be any prizes this year due to the event being free, however, I am canvassing local businesses so watch this space.

We will give you 10 themes to complete over 5 hours. At the finish line there will be UoB people to download your images (no editing allowed) and of course time to have a drink with you new friends and share your experiences... We will then process your images ready for exhibition!!

  • A digital camera of any type (including smart phones).
  • Digital Cameras will need to start off with a blank memory card, make sure all those important pics are saved at home!
  • Bring along an extra camera/card if you want to take more than Photomarathon photos on the day.
  • A cable (if required) to transfer the images to a laptop on the day.
  • Don't forget to fully charge your batteries!!
  • Suitable clothing for British Summer weather!!

After the Photomarathon, all the images will be collated and an online exhibition will be created. COVID and funding pending, there may also be a physical exhibition.
