Staff thanks and recognition

We recognise staff in many different ways at the University, with various initiatives to acknowledge our achievements and significant contributions.

The STAR Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions of staff across the institution. Staff can nominate their colleagues in a number of categories, ahead of an awards ceremony. The efforts and achievements of nominees are demonstrably over and above what is expected of them their day-to-day role.

Thank You events took place in July 2022, where over 2,000 staff attended 13 breakfast and lunch events. After two years of intermittent lockdowns, staff were invited to reconnect with each other in the newly refurbished Senate House and share food from our outstanding Catering teams.

The Thanks and Recognition system gives the opportunity for staff to send messages of thanks to each other, with the option to make the comments public. Please see below.

Send a colleague a thanks!

There are countless situations where we want to thank our colleagues. The Thanks and Recognition system aims to capture some of these and share and amplify them across the University community.

The Thanks and Recognition system is entirely driven by you!

You can give thanks to an individual, team or group. Simply complete the form in the system telling us who you want to thank, the category in which you're thanking them, and what they have done that you want to recognise.

Once submitted, your message is sent directly to the recipient. They may wish to keep this private but, if they approve, we will make it public in the system.

So if you have a colleague you really value, please send them a message and let them know.

Small acts of kindness, such as messages of thanks and support, can mean a lot to colleagues.
