Gender and In/Security Research Group

The Gender and In/Security research group interrogates the ways in which gender and in/security intersect in different settings, from the everyday to the institutional, and beyond.

Our group

The Gender and In/Security research group brings together scholars working in the field of gender and in/security broadly defined. The main aim of the research group is to push each other’s thinking in considering the gendered and in/security aspects of our work. In that regard, the work of the RG focuses on the way the two intersect in various institutional settings, how they (re)shape the links between formal and informal politics, and how they shape experiences and dynamics in the everyday domain.

Our aims / motives

The research group aims to unpack and make visible the often invisibilised and ignored ways in which gender and in/security inform one another in various ways. The group is intended primarily as a space where we can provide each other with feedback on work in progress, manuscripts, grant applications, and so on. We are especially eager to support PhD and early-career researchers working on these topics.

Our research areas/themes

  • Gender and In/Security
  • Gender and Violence
  • Gender and Peace(building)
