Leading contributions to international scholarship
The School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies is an interdisciplinary scholarly environment producing leading research which is international in its focus and relevant to the changing circumstances of our increasingly interconnected world. We aim to advance theory, knowledge and methods both within and at the interface between the disciplines of Sociology, Politics and International Relations. SPAIS is home to three Research Centres: the Global Insecurities Centre, the Centre for the Study of Ethnicity and Citizenship, and the Gender Research Centre. SPAIS staff play leading roles in two University of Bristol Research Institutes: Migration Mobilities Bristol, and the Bristol Digital Futures Institute. Other key research themes in SPAIS include: Social, Political and Cultural Theory, European Politics and Society, Party Politics, the Sociology of Work, Culture and Consumption and Secularism, Post-Secularism and Religion.
