Graduate profile: Tom Hulme

After Bristol, Tom worked in race and road cars, as a serial investor and entrepreneur, and then went on to gain a Harvard MBA. He is Design Director at IDEO London and founded OpenIDEO, an open innovation platform which won a 2011 Webby Award in the Community category 2011 and has over 53,000 users from more than 170 countries.

A Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum, Tom was listed in Wired UK's top 100 Digital Power Brokers, 2011 and 2012. He is a regular speaker on topics of entrepreneurship, technology, design thinking, open innovation and industry disruption.

He says, "First and foremost I enjoyed Physics - I was able to select a wide variety of classes that I found fascinating. It also gave me a great analytical approach that I think I have subsequently used to help find my way through tough decisions. Finally, the degree made people think I'm smarter than I am which has probably been a good thing ..."
